Timer & sound help

Set hours, minutes and seconds, then choose Start. Use Pause to keep your exact remaining time, and Resume to continue. Reset returns to the configured duration and lets you edit it.

Check sound before you rely on it

Choose Test sound while Sound at the end is enabled. “Audio is active” means the browser allowed audio; it does not prove you heard it. Check system volume, silent mode, browser tab mute and your connected headphones or speakers.

The alert is a short generated tone. The timer also keeps a visible “Time is up” message until you reset it or deliberately start again. Turning sound off or resetting stops pending and playing tones.

Keep the screen awake and the timer visible

Browsers can delay background callbacks and interrupt sound. Device sleep, screen lock, power saving and a discarded tab may prevent an alert. This page does not keep your device awake. It is not a dependable alarm for something safety critical or for waking you from sleep.

After a hidden timer expires, returning to the page shows “Time ended while you were away” without a late tone. Updates use your device’s clock rather than subtracting one second per callback. A system clock change can shorten or lengthen the countdown; changing only the displayed time zone does not.

What refresh restores

When session storage is available, refreshing the same tab restores a running deadline or the exact time left in a paused timer. An expired timer stays expired and never plays an old alarm after reload. Reset removes the saved timer.

Storage may be blocked, cleared or corrupt. The page reports errors it can detect, but cannot detect every cleared or missing record. A missing record opens a fresh timer. Closing the tab normally ends its storage session. Browser session recovery and duplicated tabs may behave differently; separate tabs are independent.

Fullscreen, keyboard and sharing

Fullscreen enlarges this timer with the same controls. Escape exits fullscreen in supporting browsers. If fullscreen is unavailable or declined, use the normal page or your browser’s zoom.

Tab moves through controls; Enter and Space activate focused buttons. Space also starts, pauses or resumes when focus is outside inputs, links, buttons and help. Enter in a duration field starts a valid timer once.

Share duration gives a link to an unstarted timer. It shares the configured duration, not remaining time or a running deadline. A saved timer in the receiving tab takes priority over a duration link. The link’s fragment is not sent in ordinary requests to this site.
